For the past couple of weeks, I have been receiving on a daily basis, ‘opportunities’ for spiritual growth through webinars. They often have a free component, then a sales pitch about a 3-9 month program for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Either there is a huge burst in this ‘market’, or I am on the ‘right’ mailing lists.
Most of them begin with statements about how they know you are unhappy with the way you are and truly want to change, then offer you ways to do it.
I’m beginning to think that dissatisfaction is part of the human condition and these people know it and are cashing in on it by offering a ‘way out’. But without dissatisfaction, we might not even get out of bed. Our body is dissatisfied by the way if feels when we have to use the bathroom or when we feel the pangs of hunger. We seek satiety, but it is always temporary. When we realize this, we begin to recognize that boredom, frustration, restlessness, and even exhaustion are signs that something wants to change. We are either needing to shed something or take in something new. Like eating and eliminating. The In and Out of life.
Most wisdom traditions speak about Nature as the Book of Life. In the cycles of Nature everything is revealed. Ecclesiastes 3: “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.” This line is familiar to most who come from a Christian based culture, such as our own in the U.S. It goes on to give the specifics.
In our intelligence we have learned to control, harness and change many natural phenomena to our advantage. Our arrogance has led us to think we are outside of Nature which has led to many of the problems we face today.
This Full Moon will be a total lunar eclipse. The Moon will be within 1°of Uranus. At the same time, Mercury will be retrograde in Scorpio.
The Aries/Libra axis, first and seventh houses, or Ascendant/Descendant are Self and Other. It has been called the relationship axis. I/thou. Another way of saying this is Inner and Outer.
I feel we are most content when there is congruence between the inner and the outer. When we have made peace with ourselves. That doesn’t mean you have to be the same all the time. It does mean you have to know and understand yourself, change what you can and accept the rest. If we are experiencing constant inner turmoil every time we try to act, we will be miserable and/or paralyzed.
When we set a goal, we have to both push ourselves and give ourselves some slack. Mastery is knowing when and how much pressure to apply and when to let go - kind of like fishing. Like any task, we have to learn how to use the tools of the trade. With ourselves it can be tricky because we are seldom either realistic or honest.
Often we are not willing to take the time to develop self-knowledge. We bumble along in life, making mistakes, going through deep depressions, losing hope and faith etc., etc. Yet we somehow expect to have fantastic relationships. “We get what we pay for,” as my father often said. We harvest what we sow.
Most of the time, we only make changes when we have pushed things to the crisis point. Enter Uranus. In Evolutionary Astrology, Uranus God of Change is also related to trauma. Jeffrey Wolf Green (the creator of Evolutionary Astrology) said that three quarters of the population was born with PTSD either from pre-natal causes, or past lives. During our early childhood situations would arise that would echo that past trauma so that we were set up for the evolutionary issues of the current life as reflected in the nodal axis and Pluto by sign and house.
Eclipses occur near the nodal points of the Moon. So, this Full Moon eclipse directly affects all those who have their nodes in Aries/Libra and those whose nodes are square the current nodal axis ie those with nodes in Cancer/Capricorn.
Since Pluto is at 11° Capricorn, it, in effect, is currently squaring the nodes and so…squares this Full Moon eclipse. Pluto in Capricorn – power and control, societal structures such as governments, organized religions etc. The current nodal axis is very much part of the action these days since Uranus is in Aries and squares Pluto. This Full Moon eclipse could trigger some huge changes in the world – the outer. What will it trigger in you?
Fall is the harvest time. A great time to look back at the resolutions we made at the beginning of the year, at the plans we made, at what we planted and see how it’s all coming. Did you accomplish any of your goals for the year? Did you set any? If not, there is still time to get it done.
The Mercury Retrograde period is from October 4 – 25. A good time to go within and assess where you are in relation to where you want to be. It will go from Scorpio back into Libra. Libra is about listening. Be sure to take time – daily if possible to listen to what your soul is trying to tell you, so that when Mercury goes direct, you will have ‘your marching orders’ for the next few months. Maybe you need a reset on the goals you already established but have gotten lax on.
After I did the Human Race in May, I planned to continue training so that next May I could do the 5K. I totally forgot about it until the other day. I jumped right up and out of the house to get back on track. It’s neither too hot nor too cold right now so I have no excuses.
Whatever you come up with as your goal…the most important thing is to ‘just show up.” You don’t even have to be there 100%. Don’t second-guess yourself. Once you have chosen to do something, follow through. If you are like me, when the time comes to do it you say, “whose idea was this?” seeking ways to get out of it. And most of all “keep it simple (stupid)” as they say. If your project is complex, break it down into do-able units, so that you can achieve them. Nothing succeeds like success.
Oh yes, and one more thing about eclipses. It is said that they form portals through which souls enter and exit this plane. They are like wormholes into other worlds. Great for inter-dimensional travel.
Happy Eclipse!
