Feeling the Pulse

Last night I gave a talk on Evolutionary Astrology at Songbird Community Healing Center in Cotati. And just as I was giving the ‘cosmic weather report’ I felt a pulse of energy. I thought I was just having another bout of the vertigo that has been plaguing me ever since I returned from a workshop with Patricia Walsh in Oregon called Working with Ancestral Spirit Complexes: Healing Your Family Tree. http://healthepast.com/. Her book Understanding Karmic Complexes is a must read. See below.

After class, a woman came up and said “Remember when you said ‘whoa’? Did you feel something? Kinda like a wave of energy? So did I.” I have to say I was relieved it wasn’t me. But what was it? Could it have been the Universe nodding to what I had been talking about? Namely that today and for that matter, this whole past week, has been loaded with potential for shifting our consciousness. A power portal so strong that it could change everything. I know I pushed through some huge obstacles this past week.

Well, last night I got the message of Saturn in Sagittarius passing through my fourth house. I had been fearing that it meant my house would finally just give up the ghost and collapse around me. But now, I know that actually the message for me is to follow the suggestion I left with my audience. “Become a disciple of that which gives meaning to your life. Develop a discipline in pursuing your quest for wisdom.”

Carolyn Myss said it so well, “Do you want a backbone or a wishbone?” Saturn work, if we step up to the plate (an expression I never would have used before but that I came to use due to my cousin’s influence while we shared the honor of caring for his dying mother), can either annihilate us or enlighten us or both. Annihilation in the flame of love - Fana’ in Arabic.

While Saturn was passing through Scorpio and thus back and forth over my South Node/Chiron conjunction, I had numerous ‘opportunities’ to relive that one. Now it will go through my house of ‘home, family, cultural traditions, lineage’- the ground of my being. I know it will be fruitful, even if difficult. Saturn work does pay off.

As for this Solar Eclipse, New Moon and Spring Equinox – HUGE opportunity for new beginning and letting go of the old.

I have been thinking a lot about that expression, ‘letting go’. What exactly does that mean? I think it has something to do with detachment. Being willing to sever attachments to the past that inhibit forward movement. There is a fine line between memory of the past and crippling nostalgia that keeps us reliving the past, longing for a long gone time and place. I noticed the other day that the tug of pain that always used to occur when I drove by the marina where my former boyfriend once lived in his boat, was no longer there. I marveled at that but was glad to no longer have that experience. In its place was a space for something new - not an emptiness. I felt a refreshing sense of freedom.

I wonder if people hang on to the past because something in them fears that if they let go, there will be nothing there. Emptiness. Better to have a lot of old, dead memories than take a chance and create a new life which takes courage and effort. Is it possible that the new life will be so much better that whatever was good before will be dull in comparison?

I am willing to begin this New Solar Year with Radical Openness borrowing from the title of a book by the same name by Tosha Silver.

Full Moon in Virgo 2015

This Full Moon is a good opportunity to start your spring cleaning. Virgo is really good at organizing and going through stuff deciding what to keep and what to toss. With all the Aries energy behind you, Mars, Uranus, Venus and Sedna in Aries, as well as the South Node, you should be able to get a lot done.

One drawback. With the Sun, Neptune and Chiron in Pisces you might get stuck in nostalgia, reminiscing about the last time you wore that dress (20 years ago) when you met your husband….etc. Try to stay in present time, will you ever fit in it again? And even if you did, would you wear it again? Cut off a piece and put it in a scrapbook along with a picture of yourself in it and throw it out!

It is interesting to note that although Virgo is known for its ability to discriminate, discern, analyze and nitpick, it is also the sign of the hoarder. “I might need this someday.” I found this out recently. Twenty years ago (or more) I took up jewelry making. That didn’t last long. But I didn’t throw out the tools or the beads. When I took up jewelry making again last spring, I found a treasure trove of items which I am currently using. In this case I DID use it again and was grateful I didn’t have to buy jewelry-making tools which are a bit costly. Fortunately, I was able to FIND everything because I had organized it and put it in a special craft supply bin. That is another feature of Virgo. If you are going to keep things, put them in suitable containers and label them so you can find them when and if you are ready to use them again. Otherwise, they will just be lost in the mess.

Virgo is also the sign of the procrastinator. Thinking about how to do something is not the same as doing it. A certain amount is planning…the rest is procrastinating. Virgo is so concerned about doing things right, efficiently, cheaply etc., it might never get to the task at all. Use all that Aries energy to just get started. Often that is the hardest part. Getting started. You might find that there is such a thing as inertia of motion. A body in motion tends to stay in motion.

This month there is a lot going on astrologically. The Full Moon on March 5 is preceded by a trine between Jupiter in Leo and Uranus in Aries on March 3. More fire energy. It is followed by the 7th of 7 exact squares between Pluto and Uranus on March 16. This transit began in 2012. Frankly, I am getting tired of it. Yes, we’ve seen a lot of upheaval, but so far, no resolution, no forward momentum for change. Just one thing blowing up after another. Perhaps we have to see what’s left after the dust settles.

I will doing a talk about the Astrological Year on Thursday, March 19 at 7:30 then teaching a 4 week introductory course on Evolutionary Astrology starting March 23 at Songbird Community Healing Center in Cotati, CA. Depending on the turn-out and interest, I may continue weekly classes. If interested contact me at www.wayfinderastrology.com  or through Songbird http://songbirdcenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/your-astrology-chart.jpg  to register or ask questions.

I have to confess my mind is elsewhere. I thought I would get to this column earlier, but left it to the last minute. Tomorrow I’m headed for a workshop called “Working with Ancestral Spirit Complexes – Healing Your Family Tree” led by Patricia Walsh http://healthepast.com. It has been quite a journey so far - deciding to go then getting ready. I’ve noticed that for me the amount of resistance is usually equal to the amount of value I will get. It’s as if the ego knows it is in trouble. Things are not going to be the same and the ego fights change.

Today, doing the final preparations, I got it that I am doing this not only for myself but for all my relatives alive and dead. Suddenly, I had a host of helpers from the spirit world. Neptune is exactly conjunct my natal Moon in Pisces in the 7th house and it is time to do this work of service to my ancestors (Virgo’s highest calling – service).

One way you might get yourself to clean up your mess is thinking about who would be stuck with it if you were to die suddenly. Morbid, but realistic. If you got in a fatal head on collision on the way to the grocery store, who would have to go through your stuff?

Over and out for now.
